Anne Hardy’s work explores ‘pockets of wild space’. Through immersive installation works and mixed media pieces she creates surreal, atmospheric environments which ask the viewer to reconsider their relationship to the world around them.

In this large-scale monochromatic work, Hardy has created a dreamlike scene using a range of materials including plywood, wallpaper, paint, pastel, pins and plastic; it has the quality of a mystical school blackboard. Human figures and natural forms appear to float, fall and balance on the brink of toppling over against a night sky, whilst changes in scale create a feeling of rhythm and movement.
Hardy has exhibited in the UK and internationally including solo exhibitions in New York and Vienna. In 2019 she created the third Tate Britain Winter Commission for the gallery’s Millbank frontage, transforming the building into a marooned temple. Her work is held in major public collections including Tate, V&A Museum, and Arts Council Collection. She lives and works in London.
